The 5 Best Bars for Happy Hours in Tribeca

Famous for its loft apartments, celebrity residents and annual film festival, TriBeCa, short for Triangle Below Canal, has been one of Lower Manhattan’s hottest neighborhoods for decades. What was once an industrial area full of abandoned warehouses is now home to some of New York City’s best art, dining, shopping and real estate.

Despite being one of Gotham’s most expensive zip codes, Tribeca also has some great happy hours. Here are our favorites.

1. Terroir

Terroir’s exposed brick walls, communal tables, Italian-inspired tapas and impressive vino list make for one of the best happy hours in Tribeca. As far as the atmosphere goes, many note that unlike some other wine bars, Terroir doesn’t take itself too seriously. On owners Paul Grieco and Marco Canora, The Infatuation noted: “These guys are enjoying themselves, and so are the people that come to their establishments.”

Terroir’s happy hour takes place every day, with discounted wines by the glass for as little as $4.

2. Nancy Whiskey Pub

Everyone loves a good old-fashioned dive bar, and even in trendy Tribeca, happy hour at Nancy Whiskey Pub is a local favorite. Open since 1967, this down-to-earth watering hole is where the drinks are cheap, the jukebox is always playing and the shuffleboard table has bumpers. Come for their generous pours, tasty burgers and no-frills atmosphere.

Nancy Whiskey Pub’s happy hour features $2.50 Bud Lights and $3 house shots.

3. Puffy’s Tavern

This long-beloved neighborhood bar in the heart of Tribeca serves a wide selection of draft and bottled beers, fine wines and authentic Italian sandwiches. Although it’s changed along with the neighborhood and now attracts a more diverse horde, Puffy’s blue-collar roots can still be felt in the establishment with its dart boards, cheap beers and working lunch crowd.

Stop by for food and drinks at half price during their daily evening happy hour.

4. Weather Up

Retro cocktail lounge Weather Up is known for its creative concoctions, knowledgeable mixologists and subway-tiled walls. Tribeca residents consider it a local gem that’s cozy enough for a first date or intimate conversation, while still offering a lively happy hour.

Weather Up offers a late-night happy hour from 10pm to close, with $12 cocktails and $5 draft beers. It may not be the most affordable happy hour in the world, but it’s hard to beat one that begins after dark.

5. The Wooly Public

Tucked inside the ultra-historic Woolworth Building is the aptly named Wooly Public. Although it only opened in February 2017, it’s already a favorite of Tribeca residents for happy hour. The bar pays perfect homage to the hundred-year-old, neo-Gothic National Historic Landmark skyscraper it calls home, with its faux-marble wallpaper, retro hanging plants and framed vintage artwork. Expect to see a mixed crowd, from suit-clad Wall Street traders to casual imbibers.

Happy hour goes from 11:30am to 6pm, so come for a boozy lunch or early evening libation. Enjoy $10 Public Punch, $7 house wines and $5 select draft beers, or get six oysters and a pint of lager for $15.
